征服考研英語長難句訣竅在此！

時光流轉,十一月份就快到了。離2017年12月24號已經不足60天!考研的同學們,天氣逐漸轉涼了,考研復習到這個階段相信你們一定是"身心俱疲",但是只有那些堅持到底、笑到最后的人,才能笑得最美!

咱們先來看2016年考研英語真題閱讀Text4中這兩句話。

Nostalgia for ink on paper and the rustle of pages aside, there's plenty of incentive to ditch print. The infrastructure required to make a physical newspaper-printing presses, delivery trucks-isn't just expensive; it's excessive at a time when online-only competitors don't have the same set of financial constraints.

許多同學看第一句時就懵了,nostalgia是啥意思?ditch又是啥含義?其實,nostalgia的含義是"鄉愁、懷舊",ditch的含義是"丟棄"。別看第一句話句子短,但其含義很讓人費解。其實第一句話的主句就是"there's plenty of incentive to ditch print"這樣一個"there be "句型,表示:"拋棄紙質報紙會有好多益處"。前半句的含義是:"把對紙墨和翻書的沙沙聲的懷念先放在一邊"。

再看第二句,要想看懂第二句話我們得先看清楚破折號和分號。其實我們需要拆開看該句。"The infrastructure required to make a physical newspaper-printing presses, delivery trucks-isn't just expensive;"是一個完整的句子,主語是"The infrastructure ",系動詞和表語是"isn't just expensive"。"required to make a physical newspaper"是省略了"which is"的定語從句。"printing presses, delivery trucks"是"The infrastructure"的例證。所以句子拆開后的分號前的含義是:"如今紙質印刷所需要的設施,如印刷機和運送卡車,不僅僅是十分昂貴的"。分號后句子結構是"主語+系動詞+表語+when引導的時間狀語從句"。分號后的句子含義是:"它也是過量不必要的,因為網絡報紙競爭對手根本不會在這些基礎設施上花費,也不會遇到此類經濟困境"。

再來看下面幾句。The most loyal customers would still get the product they favor, the idea goes, and they'd feel like they were helping sustain the quality of something they believe in. "So if you're overpaying for print, you could feel like you were helping," Peretti said. "Then increase it at a higher rate each year and essentially try to generate additional revenue."

看第一句時,很多同學都能看出這是兩個句子由"and"連接而成,但很多同學看不懂這里的"the idea goes",其實它就是一個插入語表示:有這么個想法(現象)。后一句其實就是引用了Peretti的一句話。這兩句話的含義并不難懂--這樣,最忠實的讀者還將繼續購買喜歡的報紙雜志,因為他們覺得他們在繼續支持其信得過的產品的質量。"因此,如果繼續高價購買紙質報紙,人們會覺得自己是在伸援助之手,"佩雷蒂說。"然后每年使其價格以比較高比率增長,以此獲得額外收入"。

分析完以上句子同學們可以自行理解以下句子:"It's a really hard thing to do and it's a tremendous luxury that BuzzFeed doesn't have a legacy business," Peretti remarked. "But we're going to have questions like that where we have things we're doing that don't make sense when the market changes and the world changes. In those situations, it's better to be more aggressive that less aggressive."

參考含義是:佩雷蒂說:"這真的很棘手。網飛公司沒有傳統業務,這簡直是一種奢侈,但問題是當市場和世界形勢發生變化時,我們正在做的事情沒有任何意義。在這種情況下,最好應該積極進取,而不是放棄。"
