　　Will Christmas Replace the Spring Festival

　　Christmas arouses increasing attention year by year in China. Christmas cards become popular with students. People hold Christmas parties and exchange Christmas girts. A lot or TV and radio programs about Christmas are on. Meanwhile the Spring Festival is leappealing (有吸引力的)to youngsters. Thus some people wonder whether Christmas will replace the Spring Festival.

　　This worry is fairly unnecessary. Why ? One reason lies that Christmas only affects Christians，college students and joint-venture (合資企業)workers. Another reason is that Christmas is mostly celebrated in cities. Few people in countryside show extreme interest in this exotic(帶有異國情調的) festival. By contrast，the Spring Festival is the most influential traditional festival in every family.

　　I think，it is natural that with increasing exchanges with the West，a lot of Western holidays have been gradually introduced into China. For us Chinese we should never neglect or even discard our own traditional festivals. For centuries Chinese have observed this traditional holiday to welcome the beginning of a new year. And we will treasure the Spring Festival forever.

　　我的爺爺年近六旬，兩鬢斑白，戴著一副眼鏡。爺爺的英語特別好，周圍的人都很羨慕他，可誰能知道他學英語付出了多少心血呢？

　　爺爺特別關心國家大事，自從中國加入世貿組織，中國人學英語的積極性空前高漲。正好社區里辦了個英語補習班，爺爺便去報了名，他把這個秘密告訴了我，還叫我別跟別人說。我哈哈大笑說：“您學英語笑死人了。”爺爺卻說：“一年后，咱們就比誰的英語好，怎么樣？”我爽快地說：“好！”但晚餐時，我卻公開了這個消息。爸爸、媽媽、奶奶都捧腹大笑，奶奶說：“你呀！你呀！都這把年紀了，還學什么英語，傳出去讓人家笑落大門牙！”媽媽說：“您60多歲了，還有這樣的雄心壯志？”爺爺沉默了一會兒，生氣地說：“我國改革開放30多年來，許多外國人來中國，我外出旅游，碰上外國人，不就可以用英語和外國人交流嗎？”爸爸見爺爺生氣了，就說：“好！您去學吧！”爺爺學英語的勁頭可足啦！每天早上6點前就起床，從練習讀26個字母開始，再讀記詞組……有時把我給吵醒了，我便對爺爺說：“您怎么這么煩……”爺爺說：“你睡吧，我不吵了。”我想：您不吵誰信……早上，我和爺爺一起去買菜，爺爺邊走，邊念著ABC，旁邊的人都望著我們倆笑，我滿臉通紅，就小聲對爺爺說：“您別練了，別人還以為我倆是神經病呢！”爺爺卻毫不在意地說：“怕什么，無所謂。”我只好離爺爺遠一點了。晚上，我和爺爺一起睡，9點了，爺爺一直在讀英語。我夜里起來上廁所時，睜開眼睛，一道刺眼的光向我射來，我一看手表：“呀！12點多了。”我催爺爺睡覺，他拿我沒辦法，只好睡覺了。

　　When summer comes, every girl will paste sun cream, in the purpose of protecting their skin. It is said that the one who has the red or blond hair and the white skin has more chances to get skin cancer if the person is exposed in the sun for a long time. Using sun cream in the right way can better protect themselves.

　　夏天到來的時候，每一個女孩都會涂上防曬霜，目的是保護她們的皮膚。據說如果長時間在太陽底下暴曬，紅發、金發跟白皮膚的人更容易得皮膚癌。正確使用防曬霜可以更好地保護自己。

　　Though most people use sun cream, less people use it in the right way. People get use to paste sun cream and then go out of the house immediately. This is the wrong way. Sun cream should be pasted at least half an hour ahead before you are exposed to the sun. People also need to paste it every few hours, because the sun will dry sun cream and let it lose its function.

　　盡管大多數人都會使用防曬霜，但是很少人用對了。大家習慣于涂上防曬霜后立即走出房子。這是錯誤的方式，防曬霜應該要在出去曬到太陽前半個小時就要涂了。而且還需要每隔幾個小時就補涂，因為太陽會把防曬霜吸干，失去功效。

　　Even though we know how to better use sun cream, it is not good to be exposed in the sun for a long time. In Australia, people are also called to put on clothes and hat on the beach. Only in this way will we reduce the chance to get skin cancer.

　　盡管我們知道了如何更好地使用防曬霜，但是長時間暴露在陽光下是不好的'。在澳大利亞，在海灘時大家都會穿防曬服、帶帽子。只有這樣我們才會減少遭受皮膚癌的機會。
