　　nowadays, one of the most serious problems china is faced with is brain drain. while shortages of talent trouble many universities and state-owned enterprises, millions of talented people either emigrate to developed countries or work for foreign companies. at the same time, a big crowd of well-educated people who are determined to follow their footsteps take toefl or gre as their passport to the west.

　　however, people see this phenomenon in different perspectives. some hold the opinion that china suffers a lot from brain drain. they argue, on the one hand, that brain drain considerably weakens our international competitiveness. on the other hand, they believe that the talent should serve their native country first.in contrast, others highlight the advantages of international exchange and cooperation. they claim that chinese youths should go abroad to study and gain more experience. what’s more, the long-term benefits will outweigh losses we suffer now.

　　brain drain poses a challenge. china should go all out to attract talented people in order to better compete in the world. for one thing, decent living and working conditions should be offered to specialists. for another, we have to better develop our economy, which is a sure bait for all kinds of talent.

　　The hair style of high school students has been a controversial issue for many years. The prescribed plain short hair may look tidy, but the insistence on the hair length below the ear lobe in the case of girl students, which is fixed at one centimeter or at most two, is quite unnecessary. Until recently, the Mayor of Tainan had tried to persuade the Ministry of Education to give the high schoolers the carte blanche to determine their own hair styles. It is difficult for us to say if the idea is right or wrong. So far as I am concerned, problems of the young are not confined to such a small matter as hair style; what matters is the reinforcement of the students＇ moral consciousness, the way they should behave, and the like. The length of their hair or whether they have the right to give it a permanent wave is relatively unimportant. Cleanness and neatness is what really matters. There is hardly anything that stays unchanged all the time. Why doesn＇t the concerned authority reconsider this hair business? Maybe the bickerings that sour the relations between the military instructors and their students will therefore be gone. By the way, to improve one＇s appearance is nothing wrong, is it? We all expect to see a new look of the young. Maybe a change in the concerned authority＇s policy toward the high schoolers＇ hair style will bring this about.

The region is regarded as entering an aging society according to the UN’s traditional standard that an area’s old people over 60 years old takes up 10% of the total population, while the new standard is old people over 65 years old takes up 7% of the total population. The acceleration of aging will bring enormous pressure to both economy and society. On October 26, 20xx when the Double Ninth Festival, the traditional Chinese festival, came, China formally launched a strategic research on coping with aging of population to deal with increasingly intensifying population aging crisis.
